Our history

Keep and Bear, LLC was founded in 2013 by Berge Avesian and Donald Alley to fill a gap in the Detroit Metro Area for practical, “real world” firearm training.

Most available training comes from ex-military personnel or specialized law enforcement, but Berge and Don offer something different. Berge brings experience as a Law Enforcement Officer, while Don approaches training from a civilian perspective. This unique combination allows them to “keep it real,” providing instruction that is both practical and relatable.

Because their backgrounds align with the experiences and skillsets of most trainees, they can genuinely connect and teach skills that are directly applicable in everyday life. At Keep and Bear, the focus is simple: keep it real, keep it practical, and empower trainees with the skills they actually need.
